Kenzo Cregan’s Another Reason EP, released October 19, 2021, is the newest addition to Cregan’s discography, featuring five new songs that make you want to dance, smile, and fall in love. Cregan started working on his EP in early 2021, finalizing it over the last few months as he’s been on tour with Weathers. Another Reason, Cregan says, is “essentially a collection of my last 5 singles… [and] the cool thing about these songs [is] that they are all co-writes with some very talented songwriters/producers.” He not only got to tour with Weathers, but had “the pleasure of working with” two of the members from the band, Cameron Olsen and Cameron Boyer, on songs “Ginger Ale, Pt. 1” and “Ginger Ale, Pt. 2.” Another special artist Cregan got to work with on this EP was Lisa Heller on “Ginger Ale, Pt. 1.” Cregan and Heller share the same booking agent and, according to Cregan, “her vocal approach… seemed like it would really fit the song, and it did!” After being sent some of Heller’s work, they got together in the studio “nailed it in only a few takes,” giving the song everything they wanted as it is now climbing Spotify charts with over 150,000 streams. Another producer Cregan worked with was Don Miggs, who helped him with the other three songs on the EP, “Another Reason,” “Lost In The Grind,” and “On My Way.” Along with that, Cregan says that “On My Way” is his favorite off the EP, feeling like him and Don “nailed the production and the arrangement.” One thing that gave this song the outcome it had was Migg’s pushing Cregan during the sessions, helping Cregan “come out with some great stuff.” From favorite song to favorite lyrics, Miggs helps Cregan nail it all. In “Lost In The Grind,” Cregan tells a story of not wanting to be another lover's mistake, singing that they’re “nothing but chalk line lovers.” Cregan says he “doesn’t know what a ‘chalk liner lover’ is” but they “really captured a great visual with that particular lyric.” The Another Reason EP is growing daily, making appearances on Spotify playlists and spreading in popularity via social media. Through writing this EP, Cregan has grown as not only a solo artist but a collaborative musician, enhancing his creativity and music. To end the interview, Cregan stated that: “As someone who really likes to write on their own, I’ve learned that I also love to co-write! It really brings a different side out of you creatively. As musicians, we’re always trying to discover more musical aspects within ourselves. But when you work with another artist that you respect, it’s sometimes easier to find those musical elements you’ve been longing for. And hopefully when you discover those elements within yourself, you’re helping the other person do the same.” To hear more about Cregan, check out a previous tour interview here and listen to the Another Reason EP!
